CALEA 2021 Fall Conference Now Virtual
Gainesville, VA – In the Spring of 2020, with the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) as an international pandemic, CALEA Commissioners and staff consulted almost hourly to monitor and discuss conference management strategies. Unfortunately, this situation has prevailed during planning for the Fall 2021 conference, scheduled to occur in Jacksonville, Florida, November 17-20.
Over the last several weeks, certain areas of the United States are again seeing increased numbers of infections linked to the “Delta” and other virus variants. In light of this rise, and continued uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, CALEA’s Executive Board has made the difficult decision to transition the in-person November 2021 CALEA Conference to a virtual platform, which has been successful in meeting the organization’s mission over the past two years. Although we recognize many are anxious to return to a physical conference environment, health and safety remains our primary concern.
A form will be sent out to all currently registered attendees for the November 2021 Jacksonville Fall Conference to be completed and returned for a full refund. For additional information or questions contact Wendi Jones at 703.352.4225, ext. 34, or via email at wjones@calea.org.
For those who have already made hotel and/or flight reservations, the hotel will automatically cancel your reservations based on the cancelled room block for the CALEA Conference. If you have plans to stay outside of the conference dates you will need to contact the hotel directly. Also, contact the airlines directly to cancel your flights, if the airlines require proof of cancellation feel free to provide the CALEA press release.
CALEA apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause to you and/or your agency. It is important to know that as a public safety professional association the prevailing mission, purpose and values of CALEA were held as critical in making a final decision on this matter. Again, this was not an easy decision and we understand it has impacts for everyone, at this time we believe it is the responsible approach.
Continue to monitor the CALEA- website for updated November 2021 Virtual Conference registration and information. As with past virtual conferences, the registration site will be live approximately one month prior to the conference. As a quick reminder, the dates of the Fall 2021 virtual conference will be November 16-19, 2021, with training sessions being held November 16-17, and agency review hearings November 18-19.
