
Emergency Communications Specialist (Part-Time)
The City of Naperville’s Police Department seeks a part-time (20-hours per week) Emergency Communications Specialist to provide administrative, technical and clerical support for the Emergency Communications section of the Police Department. The anticipated schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, day shift (specific hours to be determined).
The part-time Emergency Communications Specialist provides clerical and administrative support to the Emergency Communications Manager and Supervisors. Responsibilities will include such things as: responding to requests for audio and other data from internal staff or external requests; completing monthly reports for call handling times, activity and efficiency, and phone statistics; collecting CALEA proofs for compliance with CALEA accreditation standards; completing monthly LEADS validations and assisting the LEADS Agency Coordinator with LEADS and CJIS audits; and selecting emergency calls and radio traffic for quality assurance reviews, along with other miscellaneous administrative responsibilities.
To qualify for this position, you must possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) and have at least one (1) year of experience in a comparable capacity. Within six months of hire, the selected candidate must qualify for Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) certification. Strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving and computer skills as well as the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality are critical for this position. An associate’s degree and one or more years of experience in public safety emergency communications is preferred. If selected for the position, post-offer contingencies include a drug screen and physical.
