Commissioner Lynch is named chief safety officer for University of Utah. Congratulations Commissioner Marlon Lynch!

On January 15, 2020, James “Jim” D. Brown retired from CALEA after faithfully serving the organization for 24 years. During his tenure, Jim served in the positions of associate director and conference planner.

Suicide has long-been an unspoken concern among public safety professionals. While most understood the problem existed, it was shrouded in shame and was often a problem about which one did not speak.

Public safety personnel, including communications operators, patrol officers, and supervisors, are placed in difficult positions when receiving and handling calls for service that might be based in bias.
